the day mother announced she was pregnant again, we set fire to the curtains. our old man said it was an accident, like me. he hoped for another boy. the birth was different. long, hard. she cried, they both cried. i drew the curtains. it was another baby girl, another baby sister. she stole my heart. i will find her.

heard the rumors and looking to hire?

BASICS AND BACKGROUND. earl j. nashburn. middle name is james, after his father, jim. some old nicknames include hartt and triple-stitch, unfortunately but affectionately the butt of jacket jokes. born november seventeenth thirty six years ago by the outskirts of western most kansas on an isolated crop farm. a relatively friendly but listless and at times apathetic man. mature, quiet and sensible, respectable but nothing out of the ordinary. moral compass is rather grey in terms of the ends justifying the means, however, their bearing is goodness and fairness over evil and deception. a romantic soul with a rural strangeness to his ways.

PROPERTY AND POLITICS. the farm features an extensive crop field, wind pump and barn, roughly thirty miles southwest from the nearest city (tribune). it has been in the family since the late 1800s and the surrounding area is now considered a ghost township. was the site of a mass lynching reportedly based upon the death of the family’s infant daughter. this tradition in judicial value has been passed down the generations. the family is very aware of what earl does. unexpected visitors and trespassers are unwelcome and will receive a barrel to the face by the tune of dogs barking.

CAREER AND EDUCATION. a hatchet man, or hired gun, specializing in strict-policy vengeance. his reputation precedes him, being one conjuring a very daunting presence, underground whispers but no doubt: all faith. he is known to the city as a passing face, a regular here and there but at the same time, a total stranger. he works spring to summer in the cornfields, as well as manually running the property (chopping wood, caring for the chickens, handiwork etc) year round. education reaches high school level, however from a cultivated sense as they were home schooled from fourteen to eighteen (with the exception of nicole as her ambition flourished and he used to drive her).

APPEARANCE AND ASPECTS. five eight and good posture, though rather rigid. toned from extensive work in the fields. slate grey eyes with a watery green tint. hair is a dark brown, typically raked back. facial features are hard-lined and definitive, quite dark and intimidating, however, his smile softens his demeanor to a great extent. typically wears slim cut neutral browns, blues and grays, jackets cut just to the hip, a casual sharpness. voice is graveled and deep, regional accent littering an old fashioned way of talking. the sixties are a time when vintage is the future, yet the arid dust and rock, the tornado tones bring him to life. a man of routine, he carries a pocket watch, a handkerchief, wipes surfaces before touching them when he can help it and always greets with a subtle politeness.

POLICY AND PRICES.  collaboration starts at the diner off ks-96. don’t look for him, he will find you. money’s not payment. it’s insurance. $50,000 (in legitamate bars up front) per head regardless of methodology. you may not be present during execution. you only provide name, reason and pre-meditated style of revenge. children and women are fair game but not animals. he’s killed a dog before, got in his way, wasn’t pretty, he won’t be doing it again. no ties, no worry. total clean and effective job guaranteed. excludes retribution for businesses, criminal activity, rivalries or extortion. strictly loved-ones personal, strictly life for life.

PURPOSE AND RELATIONSHIPS. oldest child. lives with four sisters, mother, father and one surviving grandparent. is sole provider. two guard dogs (belgian malinois) and a barn cat. while father’s health is declining, their mother continues to be a loving housewife. his favorite sister is nicole (youngest - missing and presumed dead). the family are close, perhaps too close. associate, j. norman rafferty is a sort of right hand but novice who collects background information including connections, property and schedule on occasion (due to fake ties with the police force). apparent they may be apart of a much wider scheme, a secret society perhaps. he strongly believes in god, but not religion. this causes frequent squabbles with his mom. earl’s worldly ideal is love, it is his virtue and his vice. vengeance is the justice he serves and he does not believe murder in this sense to be wrong, rather, it is the god-given right. it is the answer.
